Ottawa Go School was founded in 2017 by Yingzhi Chen 6-dan, one of the top Go players in Ottawa. We provide Go education for children and youth across the Ottawa area, with programs for students from complete beginners to advanced players.
Our goal is to introduce more young people to the game of Go and help them develop logical thinking, concentration, patience, creativity, and a lifelong enjoyment of the game.

Our Teachers
Yingzhi Chen (6 Dan), Principal
Mr. Chen is the founder and Principal of Ottawa Go School. He is one of the top Go players in Ottawa and won the championship of the 5th Japan Embassy Cup Go tournament. Mr. Chen is enthusiastic about teaching children’s Go classes and the promotion of Go. He has rich teaching experience and his classes are deeply loved by the students.
Hanxi Zhang (6 Dan)
Mr. Zhang is the head coach of the Ottawa Go school, and one of the top Go players in Ottawa. He won the championship of the Canadian National Go tournament for several times. Mr. Zhang has superb skills in playing Go. He is especially strong in the middle game and the end game. His teaching style is strict and accurate, but at the same time his classes are vivid and interesting to the kids.
Jun Li (6 Dan)
Mr. Li is the Top three Go players in Ottawa and the best Go Teacher. He won the championship of the Japan Embassy Cup, Quebec Open, Ottawa Cup, and once won the 3rd place of Canada Open.
Keqiang Liao (5 Dan)
Mr. Liao is an active Go player for many years. He won the championship of the Quebec Open, and the 3nd place of Toronto Open.
Jianming Hao (5 Dan)
Mr. Hao is an active Go player in Ottawa for many years. He won the championship of the B group of 1998 Manitoba Open, and the championship of the 5 dan group of the 2011 Japan Embassy Cup.
